Reginald-J.-P.-Dawson Library

From festive Tel Aviv, an open city facing the Mediterranean, to conservative Jerusalem, a city sacred to the three great monotheistic religions, Israel presents a portrait full of contrasts. Neighboring Jordan, for its part, conceals one of the most impressive archaeological sites: Petra, capital of the Nabataeans, carved into an incandescent rock...

Once a week, for three or four hours, time is suspended. It is then that the people taking part in the workshops have a rendez-vous with their creativity.

PHOTOS STATION MONT-ROYAL

In a relaxed atmosphere of camaraderie and mutual support, all focus on learning concepts that will enable them to conjure up on paper or canvas a depiction of the model before them or an image they want to bring to life. Everyone arrives at the course with a different set of skills and experiences. The goal is to develop those skills while maintaining one’s vision and artistic personality. It is the fruit of these efforts that we proudly share with you in this exhibit, a voyage through the various works that reflect the artists’ sensibilities and souls.

PPHOTOS JEAN-MARTIN BAILLARGEON

After having lived in different places around the world, such as Africa, the United States, Canada, and in several regions of Quebec, Jean-Martin Baillargeon now lives in Montréal. A graduate of 4 universities, from childhood he has always been interested in the visual aspect of things, in art and at work. Jean-Martin Baillargeon uses graphite, charcoal, pastel, ink, acrylic and finally oil paint as a medium. The current exhibition is only oil painting.

“This pandemic period has given me the opportunity to paint more. Limited in my movements, I was inspired for my paintings by what surrounds me and soothes me, my family, my garden, my countryside… Drawing and painting gave me the opportunity to escape”, he said.
