Two brothers have enthusiastically taken over the activities of the most popular gelateria in town, which until last year was La Dolce vita, just next to Villa Armando. An unusual business in Mount Royal, outside the shopping centers, far from downtown, almost in the courtyard of nearby residences. Carl and Peter Metz, residents of Town of Mount-Royal, have renamed the place Conefetti, which recalls the festival of gelati flavors that have made the place famous for several years.
At lunchtime, we will opt without hesitation for a panini – among a dozen varieties – grilled and crispy, garnished with cheese, charcuterie and greens, which we will enjoy outside in good weather. A bouquet of red parasols serves as a parasol for the fifteen tables spread over two small terraces which welcome the many gelato lovers. In all, around fifty house varieties take their place in turn in the frosted display. In addition to the classic lemon, mango and raspberry sorbets and chocolate, strawberry and pistachio ice creams, we discover new flavors such as tiramisu, whiskey, and vegan matcha tea ice cream. A suggestion that works: the canollis, in four varieties, including pistachio and ricotta, which can be tasted... right down to your fingertips.
Carl and Peter also own the Villa Armando restaurant. They announce a reopening in the next few months. Erected in 1787, the 3201, boul. Graham is the oldest building in town. It was saved from probable demolition thanks to the intervention of the city in 1957 during the extension of Graham Boulevard. The small building of the Conefetti gelateria originally served as a stable.
