A NEW SKATEPARK STARTING THIS SUMMER
- Publication : 8 mars 2022
Described as old and obsolete by many, the Ville Mont-Royal skatepark dating from 2001, probably no longer did the trick.
"Asphalt for a skatepark is completely ridiculous and you really have to never have boarded a skateboard to think that metal modules [it's] good for this sport", let know Jean-Philippe Salis Routhier to the City, two years ago, through a petition that collected nearly 150 signatures. “A new concrete skatepark thought out and designed by and for skaters would be greatly appreciated,” he claimed. However, this request will not have remained a dead letter. The City awarded a contract to the company Tessier Récréo-Parc de Nicolet, in September 2021, for the construction of a new skateboard park, still located in Danyluk Park.
That is an investment of $1.1 million. This future skatepark, planned for the summer of 2022, will include a new modern layout, made up of concrete obstacles, and will be suitable for users who practice skateboarding, BMX and mountain biking.
